The chuckwalla is a small desert lizard that lives in northern Mexico and southern American states. They prefer rocky, hot desert areas like lava flows or valleys. Chuckwallas like to crawl under rocks to  cool off, hide from enemies, and go to sleep at night. They are slightly smaller then gila monsters but bigger then frilled lizards. They mostly eat flowers and berries. The males are very territorial, but will tolerate females in their area. They don't have that many enemies, but coyotes and hawks probably take them off. They are totally harmless to humans, and run from enemies. When chased they, crawl under rocks and press themselves into small crevices.
