The whip scorpion is a freakishly large arachnid with two long, bendy pincers, eight long legs, a flat head, a fat body, and a whippy tail. Have you ever seen Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? That little bug the crazy one eyed guy was flinging around was a whip scorpion. They are found in the jungles of Ecuador. There, they are called guabas. Nice name. They belong to a family of arachnids called amblypygi, meaning "blunt rump." These guys aren't spiders or scorpions. Their front legs are used as sensory organs, the other six are used for moving. They don't have poison fangs or silk glands, so they can't make webs. They move sideways, like a crab.
