A werewolf is a human that turns into a wolf on every full moon. You normally become a werewolf by being bitten by another werewolf.They are almost impossible to kill in wolf form, except for a silver bullet. If you don't have one of those on you, you're out of luck. They will kill you even if you are their best freind, brother or sister, or even grandma. Once they are in wolf form, they lose all conciousness and it's tey're instinct to kill everyone they see. That's why they normally isolate themselves in a cave or house. The only way to ward them off is to expose them (in wolf form) to a magical plant called wolfsbane. In medevil Europe, they really took their werewolf safety classes seriously. If they suspect that somebody's a werewolf, they would tear them open to make sure they weren't hiding their hair inside their bodies.
